A bale is compressed crop, such as grass, hay or straw. After the meadows or fields have been cut, the crop is pressed into bales to be transported and stored or stretch wrapped afterwards.

There are round bales and square bales.

Round bales are pressed with bale netwraps and, as the name suggests, have a round shape. This shape is ideal for stacking the bales under a fleece in outdoor storage.
Bale netwraps are mainly used for wrapping grass, rape, hay or straw bales. For example, grass and rape cannot be pressed into square bales as they would become too heavy. Round bales remain flexible with any crop.
Round bales of grass silage are often used in relation to horse husbandry.

Square bales are tied with twine and, in accordance with their name, are square-shaped. This shape is better suited for indoor storage, as the bales can be stored in a more space saving way. Square bales can nevertheless also be stored outdoors under a fleece.

Bales are pressed in balers and tied with bale netwraps or baler twine to keep the crop in shape and thus make it suitable for transport and storage. This makes it possible to transport large quantities of crop safely and in a space-saving manner.

To wrap bales, you need either bale-and-wrap combination or stationary wrapping equipment, as well as agricultural stretch film. Depending on purpose and location, each of our agricultural stretch films has advantages. The color also plays a role. Our customers can choose from a wide range! Special emphasize is on our PASSION wrapping films "agrifol® lemon®" and "lavanda® DLG".

Bales are often used for feeding horses, cattle or sheep. The advantage is that forage quantities of approx. 600 to 800 kg per bale can be fed quickly and in suitable portions. As described above, another advantage of the bales is that they are easy to transport and can be stored in a space-saving way.

In general, there are two recommended ways to store bales.

Option 1 - Outdoor storage:

Option 2 - Indoor storage (recommended for square bales):
Indoor storage is a little more expensive, as it requires a suitable hall and sufficient storage space. If you do not have this space or need the space for other things, you should consider storing the bales outdoors under straw and hay bale fleece.
