Zill Fix Tex
To protect hay bales, straw bales and grain from wind and weather and dirt, we have developed our protection fleeces. They repel water from the outside and at the same time release moisture from the inside, which ensures the best possible ventilation.
You can find out more about protective fleece in the following Q&As.
Hay fleeces, straw fleeces or. Grain fleeces are nonwoven protective fabrics made of polypropylene, which can be used to cover various harvested products in outdoor storage such as hay bales, straw bales and grains and thus protect them from weather influences.
Our protective covers are mainly used by farmers and contractors. This is not only space-saving and flexible, but also an extremely cost-effective alternative to warehouse storage, as the bales can be stored directly next to the field.
Protective fabrics have been developed to be able to store hay and straw bales outdoors without the influences of weather on them. The cover fleece protects the bales from wind and rain and remains free of mould, as no moisture is able to collect, when used properly, due to the excellent air ventilation. In addition, the protective fleeces enable a cost-effective alternative to indoor storage.
You can buy Zill hay bale, straw bale and grain protection fleeces from your agricultural retailer. Our protection fabrics are available there in large quantities in different variations and sizes.
Zill protective fleeces are available at different prices, depending on the length, width and technical characteristics of the fleece. Your local retailer can name you the exact prices.
Hay and straw fleeces are very useful because they have the ability to drain rainwater on the outside and allow moisture to escape from the inside. This means that bales of straw and hay can be safely stored outdoors and the harvest quality is maintained throughout the storage period. In addition, our protective fabrics are highly UV-stable and can be used for many years.
With our premium PolyTex® cover fleece, it doesn’t matter which side is at the top, as both sides have a specially treated surface to repel water.

It depends on how many bales should be covered with the fleece. Take a look at our example of the ratio of number of bales to fleece dimensions:
The cover fleece should be completely dried after use and then folded. Ideally, the fleece is stored in a dry, clean, dark area where there are likely no rodents. That significantly extends the life of the fleece.
The protective fleece can be easily attached to the bales with our robust fastening nails. Furthermore, the individual fleece fabrics can be attached by using our FixTex Velcro tape.

Straw bale and hay bale fleeces are water-repellent, but not completely waterproof. However, entrapped water can easily escape through the breathable fabric.
As already mentioned, the fleece is mostly used for covering straw and hay bales. However, there are also many other areas of application, such as a wood chip fleece for covering wood chips, as grain protection fleece for covering grain from dirt, as compost fleece for covering compost or as cover fleece for sugar beet or potatoes.
To attach the fleece, we offer robust fastening nails with metal or plastic pins. These can be easily inserted into the bales through the fleece. Also, we offer the FixTex Velcro tape. With the double-sided Velcro version, individual panels of the fleece can be safely and easily connected. With the one-sided Velcro version, silo bags can be affixed on the fleece to weigh it down without puncturing the fabric.
